ICAR KVK Anjaw organised “Jal Shakti Abhiyan” trainings.
To create awareness on water conservation and furnish scientific knowledge and methodology on water conservation in Agricultural, Horticulture and Livestock, ICAR KVK, Anjaw concluded the four-day long training programme under Jal Shakti Abhiyan today on 26.08.2019 at Tafraliang (adopted DFI village). Other three trainings were conducted at Kundan (17.08.2019), Chirang (19.08.2019) and KVK Anjaw campus, Khupa (21.08.2019) of Anjaw district.
Ms. Rebecca Eko, SMS (Horticulture) emphasized the importance of water conservation in horticultural crops, giving a detail power point presentation on the water requirements of fruits, vegetables and spices. Further elaborating their critical stages of water requirement and types of irrigation practices recommended. She highlighted the age-old traditional practices followed in north eastern state such as bun system, zabo system, bamboo drip irrigation, banana pseudo stem irrigation, etc. of water conservation. The farmers were encouraged to adopt improved water management technologies such as pressurized irrigation system i.e. drip & sprinkler, roof water harvesting, micro rain water harvesting structures and IFS module.
Mr. Naveen Khoisnam, SMS (Agronomy) explained the use of different water conservation technology for successful and sustainable cultivation. He gave detailed demonstration of Jalkhund, rain water harvesting and it’s use in agriculture and domestic purpose. He also emphasised to adopt the micro-irrigation and sprinkler system of irrigation to cover more area from less water during water stress season.
Dr. Santosh Kumar, SMS (Animal Science) explained the water scenario in India and world and needs to understand per drop more crop in livestock farming. He elucidated and highlight the requirement and its importance in successful and profitable animal and poultry farming. A movies on efficient use of water by using advance tool and recycling of water under integrated farming system was also explained under the course.
Around 90 farmers including GB of villages participated in the four-day long training programme.
